Back in 1916, newspapers across the country celebrated the world’s first billionaire, John D. Rockefeller of Standard Oil. The announcement marked a wealth milestone that was once thought to be unreachable. The concept of achieving billionaire status was groundbreaking at the time, with Rockefeller’s soaring share price making headlines.
Fast forward to present day, and the focus has shifted to the possibility of the world’s first trillionaire. Several companies have already crossed the trillion-dollar mark, including Berkshire Hathaway and Nvidia. However, the spotlight is now on individuals who are poised to achieve trillionaire status.
According to a recent report, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is projected to be the first trillionaire. With an estimated wealth of $251 billion, Musk’s wealth is on track to grow at an annual average rate of 110%. Following closely behind is India’s Gautam Adani, with a predicted trillionaire status in 2028 based on a growth rate of 123%. Jensen Huang of Nvidia is also a strong contender, with a potential trillionaire status by 2028 if his wealth continues to grow at a rate of 112%.
The report also highlights Indonesia’s Prajogo Pangestu and LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault as contenders for trillionaire status. Pangestu could reach the milestone by 2028, while Arnault is projected to become a trillionaire in 2030. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is also mentioned as a potential trillionaire in 2030.
Despite their immense wealth, some top billionaires such as Jeff Bezos, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin are not expected to achieve trillionaire status until later years. Bezos, currently the world’s second-richest person, may have to wait until 2036 to reach the milestone. The Google founders are also slated to become trillionaires in the next decade.
While speculation about the first trillionaire has been ongoing for years, the possibility of crowning one in the next decade is becoming more real. The growth rates of individuals like Musk, Adani, and Huang indicate that trillionaire status may not be too far off. However, factors such as market fluctuations and economic trends could impact the timeline for reaching this milestone.
The race to trillionaire status is well underway, with several high-profile individuals vying for the title of the world’s first trillionaire. As wealth continues to accumulate at unprecedented rates, the trillionaire club may soon welcome its newest members in the coming years.
